Japanese M20BC

I have been contacted by a Japanese collector who owns an Olivetti M20. He published some pictures of it and it is a very rare Japanese version. Here is a link to the blog where the pictures were first published. The motherboard contains some additional EPROMs that contain the Kenji characters. The boot EPROMS on the other side are marked with the usual PA61 and PA62 and contain the usual version 1.0 of the firmware. If you have more information about this very peculiar machine, let us know.

Front view The very interesting and rare keyboard with the Kanji characters. There are an additional key and an LED at each side of the space bar. That means that the upper part of the computer shell is different from usual (or it has been modified).

Front view From what concerns the CPU, we find the usual Z8001. Surprises are expected elsewhere!

Front view The motherboard does not look very different from the usual rev. D motherboard, except for a detail, in the upper left part: there are four additional ROM chips installed close to the firmware EPROMs.

Front view The motherboard sports a REV.DK marking, that is unusual (revision D, Kanji version?)

Front view And sure enough, there is the Kanji marking on the motherboard. A rare beast, indeed.
